About

Find me Frugal(er) is all about living well, spending less, enjoying what you have, and generally getting better at life and being a grown-up.

What you will find here:
An example and (hopefully) a friendly voice: I'm poor, I don't make much money and I probably won't any time soon since I opted for a career that pays more in warm fuzzies than dividends.  I still have a great, full life with everything I could want or need.  Sure I get frustrated, I feel like there's always something else to pay for, but I'm not going to let it get me down.  I do my best, and I refuse to wallow.

Advice: I'm certainly not an expert, but I have a few systems that work for me, and I'm always learning more.

Recipes:  I'm not a great cook, but I'm learning.  When I have a successful (and inexpensive) recipe that knocks my socks off, you'll hear about it.

Book Reviews: I compulsively read personal finance and frugality books--let me tell you which ones are worthwhile and save you a little time.  I also read other books, I'm a librarian by trade, and sometimes I add those reviews too.

What you will not find:
Outrageous coupons and free sample deals:  I am not a fan of buying something that you don't need just because it's a good deal.  If you don't need it, you don't need it.  I don't read blogs like that, and I certainly don't want to write one.

Religion: When I started reading frugality blogs, one of the biggest things I noticed is that many of them are written by women who are incredibly religious.  That's fine, live your life however you want to, but I found it frustrating to (in many of them) read a lot of blog entries that had nothing to do with the topic at hand, which was supposed to be frugality.  The focus of this blog is personal finance and frugality--I'm staying on topic.

To Sum up:
This is a blog about what I have learned, and what I keep learning. I'm not a financial expert, but I like helping people and trying to explain what I've learned in a way that's easy to understand, and hopefully entertaining.  If you want to know how I came to care so much about money, I've written out my debt story in two parts.  One thing I know for sure is that you can have a sense of humor about everything--including money.
